Fourth Potential Hurricane Gathers Strength

The fourth tropical depression of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, to be given the name Debby, is expected to become a tropical storm as it is approaches the Cape Verde islands, Reuters reports. Debby has moved from the coast of West Africa and is currently gathering strength in the middle of the Atlantic. The 2006 season has been fairly quiet to date, with the three previous storms having fizzled out harmlessly at sea, although the hurricane center says the worst part of the season is usually between mid-August and late October.
