Arctic Kingdom Launching Customized Explorer-Yacht Polar Expeditions

November 29, 2011 By: Susan Young

Arctic Kingdom, which specializes in Arctic expeditions and polar logistics, is launching explorer-yacht polar expeditions.

The custom-designed yacht trips will be customized to the client's needs. Such expeditions might include overnight side-trips to such places as Ellesmere Island, Greenland’s Ice Cap and even the North Pole.

“Yacht captains and owners are searching for new, untapped cruising grounds,” says Arctic Kingdom’s Chief Expedition Officer Graham Dickson. “And the Arctic, with miles of jaw-dropping coastline, teeming with polar bears, walrus and whales, is catching their eyes.”

Given the vast wilderness, Arctic Kingdom says Arctic yacht-logistics and itinerary building can be challenging for super-yacht captains and crews. The firm says it brings experience to the process with 12 years of experience. It has both extensive polar region contacts and first-hand geographic knowledge.
While the Arctic region remains pristine, it is largely accessible from the yachting mecca of New England, the firm said. The firm also said that yachts based on the Eastern Seaboard are much closer to the sailing regions of Greenland, Labrador and the Canadian Arctic, including the Northwest Passage, than to other explorer yacht hot spots like the Amazon, Galapagos or Alaska.
The firm says it also can handle customization of Antarctic itineraries including planning and logistics services.
Arctic Kingdom gave the example of a customized yacht program it created last August. It built the itinerary and handled logistics and guiding, for an explorer mega-yacht that explored the coasts of Greenland, Baffin Island, Hudson’s Bay and Labrador over a six-week period of time.
Guests witnessed massive icebergs calving from glaciers, countless whales, along with seals, wolves, caribou and at least 15 polar bears.
