Hyatt Regency Merida Undergoes Interior Redesign

Wisecracker Design, the interior and product design agency based in Sonoma County, recently completed a major interior revamp of The Hyatt Regency in Merida, Mexico

The extensive redesign of the public areas included the lobby, two restaurants, ballrooms and pre-event spaces and pool terrace.

Key features of the renovation are the installation of a new lobby bar, an intimate gathering space called The Library; Amuza, a new restaurant concept and a careful facelift to another on-site traditional restaurant. Wisecracker designed many custom pieces for the project: hammered copper table tops from Santa Clara de Cobre in Michoacan, handmade tiles crafted in the Yucatan for walls and tromp l'oeil area rugs, and Travelling Light, a suspended luggage sculpture made from trunks hand-built in Mexico.
