The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has announced an 11 percent increase in visitors between January and May, growth that the organization projects could put the destination on pace to top the visitation record it set last year. With much of the surge due to a slate of new and newly rebranded hotels in the region, we've rounded up the latest hotel information you need to know.
Club Med Cancun Yucatan
Renovated: Late June 2014
The Pitch: Coming off a $14 million renovation, this all-inclusive property now has 60 new beachfront family accommodations, two redesigned and expanded restaurants, a new Petit Club Med for children ages 2-3 and a modernized guest lounge.

The Pitch: The property's latest renovation added upgraded restaurants, pools, guestrooms and a new theater.
Dreams Sands Cancun Resort and Spa
Rebranding: September 2014
The Pitch: AMResorts recently signed a deal to reopen the Grand Oasis Viva as the Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa this September. The resort will be the 12th property for the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand.
The property will undergo an extensive renovation to meet Dreams brand standards. The rebranded property will offer 441 rooms and suites, all with ocean views, facing 650 feet of white sand beachfront in the southern end of Cancun’s hotel zone, as well as eight international restaurants and six bars and lounges; an array of day and evening activities; and 24-hour room and concierge services. The Explorer’s Club for Kids will offer dedicated facilities and tailored programming.

Opening: Winter 2014
The Pitch: Just 15 minutes from the international airport, when this new property opens it will have more than 1,100 suites with amenities including rain showers, unlimited reservation-free dining, 24-hour room services, free wi-fi, unlimited calling to North America and most of Europe and more. Guests can also download a Royalton mobile app and receive the unlimited free calling plan from their mobile device, as well as unlimited app-to-app texting.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun
Opening: Fall 2015
The Pitch: Hyatt is putting the former Dreams Cancun through a full renovation and demolition to bring the property into its new Ziva all-inclusive brand. When it opens the property will have 11 new pools, room upgrades, and the construction of an additional building that will increase the number of rooms from 380 to 500. Added amenities include fire pits along the boardwalk, beach butlers, and s’mores on the beach with bonfires and tents for kids.
Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres
Officially Inaugurated: December 15, 2014
The Pitch: Another AMResorts rebrand, Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres will be renamed and officially inaugurated as Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun on December 15, 2014. The property will offer 35 ocean-front suites with Jacuzzi terraces; gourmet dining; a full-service Spa & Thalasso Center with 10 treatment rooms, and a natural seawater pool; private marina with its own 42-foot yacht that transports guests between Cancun and the resort; and the Endless Privileges program.
