The Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) advises that ARC will continue to process Alitalia tickets as the carrier files for receivership protection. ARC said it has been advised Alitalia Airlines (AZ-055) has requested admission to receivership under Italian legal code (similar to bankruptcy under U.S. legal code).
ARC said Alitalia Airlines expects to continue to operate flights and customer programs without interruption. On this basis, ARC will continue processing Alitalia Airlines-validated transactions, including sales, refunds and exchanges, without interruption. A terse statement by Alitalia confirmed the decision to seek receivership and file for insolvency. Alitalia is a member of the Sky Team alliance of airlines and its future has set of wave of speculation on possible investment/ownership options.
