Oasis to Invest $90 Million in Mexico Properties

Although it is not set to be officially announced until June 26 at a press event in New York, Oasis Hotels & Resorts shared with Travel Agent news that it has invested $90 million into seven properties in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, Mexico, and will also open three new resorts in 2007. 

 he Oasis Viva Beach  and Oasis Palm Beach will undergo upgrades as part of the projectBy the end of the year, Oasis Hotels & Resorts and Grand Oasis Deluxe All Inclusive Resorts & Spas will operate a total of 4,000 rooms in 10 all-inclusive hotels in Mexico.

According to a written statement from Enrique Klein, vice president of Sales & Marketing for TravAmerica, which represents the Oasis and Grand Oasis properties, "Following the devastation of Hurricane Wilma in Cancun, Oasis Hotels & Resorts and Grand Oasis saw it as the perfect opportunity to renovate our properties and make an investment in creating an entirely new Oasis experience."

Klein noted that the $90 million investment was used to upgrade facilities at each of the Oasis and Grand Oasis properties, including adding or renovating restaurants, bars, lobbies, and guest rooms in addition to swimming pools, landscaping, and beach preservation.

The product enhancement program was also used to make an investment into the resort's food and beverage operations, with an emphasis on show cooking and creating oceanfront restaurants and bars, as well as upgraded entertainment. Other additions included golf (nine-hole executive pitch-and-putt courses), tennis and water sports.

The New "Sens" Brand

Oasis Hotels & Resorts currently operates the Oasis Cancun, OasisVivaBeach, Oasis Palm Beach and Oasis America. Grand Oasis Deluxe All Inclusive Resorts & Spas operates the flagship Grand Oasis Cancun, Grand Oasis Riviera Maya, and the Grand Oasis Playa, which is now an adults-only (23 and over) property. This summer, Grand Oasis will have a soft opening for its Grand Oasis Caribbean Beach Resort and the company will introduce a new brand calls "Sens," which will include the Sens Cancun, currently open, and the Sens Del Mar, which is set to open in December 2007.
