On April 11, the Athenaeum Hotel in London launched a new 70-passenger river cruiser, The Spirit of Chartwell. As part of the hotel’s new “London by River and Land Experience”, guests can treat themselves to a stay in the hotel followed by a cruise along the river featuring a gourmet lunch, high tea and a gala dinner. During their cruise guests can marvel at famous London landmarks such as the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater and Lambeth Palace. The river cruiser is styled after the golden age of travel in the 1900s, with rich hardwood finishes and flooring, Lalique glass paneling and artifacts from historic ocean liners.

Centrally located in Mayfair, the Athenaeum offers ample opportunity to explore London on foot as well. Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and the city’s best shopping district are within easy walking distance. Guests can also take a picnic prepared by the hotel’s chef to nearby Green Park, St. James Park, or Hyde Park. The hotel’s 18 newly redesigned Apartments at the Athenaeum, located adjacent to the hotel in a three-story Edwardian mansion block, feature their own kitchens, washers and dryers.

All-inclusive prices for the Athenaeum’s “London by River and Land Experience” start at $699 and are valid from April 11 to July 31. The package includes:
•    A minimum one night stay at the Athenaeum Hotel
•    One day ‘run of ship’ cruise aboard the Spirit of Chartwell
•    Gourmet lunch, tea, and dinner aboard the Spirit of Chartwell
