Atlantis to Expand in Dubai

Dubai’s luxury hotel scene keeps growing: This week, ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the construction of a new resort on the Palm Jumeirah island by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD).

With 800 rooms, suites and 250 luxury hotel apartments, Gulf Business estimates that the Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences will cost approximately $1.5 billion and will be developed in association with Kerzner International.

Located on the crescent of The Palm and next to the existing Atlantis The Palm, Dubai, hotel and resort, the new property will be 46 stories high and will have private gardens and infinity pools.

According to Hotelier Middle East, the resort will also include a Sky Pool nearly 300 feet above The Palm, as well as rooftop private gardens and private infinity pools overlooking the ocean and The Palm, as well as a Beach Club. Dining options are set to include "new world-class restaurants with award-winning celebrity chefs."

According to The National, Dubai’s first Atlantis had the largest room inventory at 1,539 when it was overtaken by JW Marriott Marquis hotel this year with its total room count now at 1,608.
