Hurricane Bill began making landfall Friday in Bermuda as the storm edged closer to the British territory, the National Hurricane Center said.
Bill is expected to pass between Bermuda and the U.S. East Coast over the weekend. Forecasters expect Bill to soak Bermuda with one to three inches of rain, though a maximum of five inches is possible. The storm also is beginning to affect the U.S. East Coast, where dangerous rip currents and battering waves are developing.
