Marriott International Adds Special Amenities for Chinese Guests

Chinese travel is booming, and Marriott International is responding with the "Li Yu" program. Meaning "Serve with Courtesy" in Mandarin, the "Li Yu" program will provide amenities and services such as reservation confirmations in Chinese, Mandarin-speaking hotel associates, and Chinese cuisine. In-room TVs will offer Chinese programs, and guests can read Chinese-language newspapers. Comlimentary Chinese tea will also be provided among other beverage selections.

Marriott has taken extra steps to ensure that Chinese guests are comfortable, assigning them to rooms on the 6th or 8th floor, since those are considered lucky numbers. The "Li Yu" program will be operational at all JW Marriott, Renaissance, Marriott and Courtyard hotels in Asia by early next year, as well as select international hotels in key gateway cities.

“We have been growing our hotel portfolio in Asian markets and serving Chinese travelers for more than two decades. Some of our hotels have taken a pioneering role to fine-tune their services to cater to the needs of Chinese travelers over the years,” said Simon Cooper. “Today’s news is that we are taking a well-orchestrated and holistic approach across the board.”
