The good folks from Maybourne Hotel Group are in New York this week and Travel Agent spent a bit of quality time with them last night at a reception at The Modern, one of the city’s top restaurants. Maybourne, if you don’t know them by their corporate moniker, is the parent company for three rather iconic hotels in London: Claridge's, The Berkeley and The Connaught.

While each of the hotels had an update on their offerings (most notably, The Connaught recently reopened following a $150 million renovation), what we found most interesting was the fact that the luxury hotel company has plans to expand by at least one property a year.

Stephen Alden, CEO of the group, says the company is actively looking in “New York, Paris and Austria.” We hear also that the goal is to expand into major gateway cities.

Here are some moments from last night's event, including yours truly (below) with Stephen Alden and three executives (above) from Maybourne Hotel Group: Mike Bonner, director of marketing; Brona Kelly, director of sales; and Anthony Lee, general manager of The Connaught.
