Classic Journey Debuts China Walking Tour

Classic Journey’s 12-day China—Shanghai to Shangri-La Cultural Walking Adventure includes such highlights as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, the terra cotta warriors of Xian, and lesser traveled portions of the Great Wall.

The itinerary includes Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Yangshuo, Shangri-La and Shanghai. The itinerary places a premium on cultural discovery. For example, a two-day stay in rural Yangshuo  has guests trekking along dirt paths through lush fields and bamboo forests, pedaling past rice paddies where farmers work their water buffalo, and boarding a bamboo raft for a river interlude.

Classic Journeys has April, May, September and October departures for the new program. Tour price is $5,995 per person, double occupancy (land-only). Internal air fare of approximately $1,200 per person is extra. An optional four-night Cruise Extension highlighting the Three Gorges stretch of the Yangtze River (soon to be altered forever by construction of a hydroelectric dam) is available at tour's end for $1,595 per person.
