For the first time, the Membership Rewards Pay with Points Program is available to travel agents outside of American Express, according to the company. The online portal is now available to agencies in the American Express Representative Network, allowing them and their agents to redeem their customers’ Membership Rewards Points for all or part of their trips. One of the program’s main attractions is that the transaction is still 100 percent eligible for a travel agent commission, Amex says.
The new program lets travel agencies in the Representative Travel Network service a larger customer base, allowing for even greater added-value for their customers. It provides them with the same products and tools available to American Express offices.
As an American Express Travel benefit, the program further distinguishes Representative Travel Network agencies, allowing them to continuously stay competitive in today’s market and increases their revenue opportunities, Amex said.
As one of the largest travel companies in the world, American Express Travel has made a concerted effort to continue to grow the Representative Network by signing such well-respected and successful agencies as ALTOUR, Duluth Travel and National Travel, the company said.
