Uniglobe Travel Center (UTC), the host agency division of Uniglobe Travel USA, held its annual conference recently in Newport Beach, California. Over 100 participants joined together in educational seminars, roundtable discussions and marketplace where they had the opportunity to meet many of the UTC preferred supplier reps. UTC provides a variety of programs including: UNIGLOBE InHouse, UTC Pro, Premier and Mentorship as well as Amadeus Agent programs.
“There will always be a role for an ‘interpreter of alternatives’ and that is what today’s retail travel agent does," U. Gary Charlwood, founder, chairman and CEO of Uniglobe Travel told agents. "In the home-based sector, we are the best of the best in the business.”
UTC said it was the first host agency group to market with a program geared to bringing brand new agents into the business through its innovative Mentorship Program.
Rose Snyder, vice president and general manager of UTC, awarded the top producing agent awards. Betsey Smith, Vacations in Paradise, was named Franchise Agency of the Year while Jackie Maples and Kathy Romo of Seewees Travel were named the top producers for the Amadeus Agent programs.
Betsey Smith credits her success to "taking the leap of faith to start my own business. One of the highlights of this event was the networking opportunity for attendees to learn and share best practices. “I have never been at an event where the agents spent so much time with each other, learning from each other and enjoying each other's company” said Betsy Geiser, Director of Sales for UTC.
