American Cruise Lines Raises Money for Connecticut Food Bank

American Cruise Lines raised $14,000 for the Connecticut Food Bank this year, thanks to its Holiday Give-Back Program.

The Holiday Give-Back Program presented by American Cruise Lines benefits the Connecticut Food Bank by donating $50 for each ticket sold on a variety of the company’s select holiday cruises, including a seven-night Mississippi River cruise on board the Queen of the Mississippi; the Historic South & Golden Isles seven-night cruise on board the Independence; and the seven-night Great Rivers of Florida Cruise offered on board the American Glory.

Since its conception in 2013, the Holiday Give-Back Program has allowed American Cruise Lines to provide funds to one of the largest food banks in Connecticut. Since its founding, the cruise line has been able to grow the program and donate more and more each year; this year the cruise line surpassed last year’s donation of $10,500.

American Cruise Lines Director of Sales Susan Shultz presented the Connecticut Food Bank with the donation on behalf of American Cruise Lines at the Food Bank’s distribution center in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau said the donation from American Cruise Lines would support critically needed food for hungry families in Connecticut. “This generous donation will provide enough food for 28,000 meals. We are grateful for the generosity of American Cruise Lines, given in recognition of their travelers, who shared the bounty of their holiday with Connecticut families in need.”

Shultz added “There is nothing as rewarding as giving back to the local community and helping those in need. It’s our goal to continue to share our successes with the Connecticut Food Bank in the coming years.”
