Aurora Expeditions Launches New Alaska Sailings

Aurora Expeditions has announced that it will be launching a limited-time Sail & Rail Package for cruisers exploring Alaska in 2016. The new cruise and land adventure combines an Alaskan Inside Passage cruise with a rail train that will travel down California’s West Coast and end with a three-night stay in Los Angeles.

The excursion begins on the company’s Wilderness Adventurer, where guests will tour Alaska’s Tongass National Forest, glaciers, the Misty Fjord National Monument and more. Onboard, guests can watch whales, moose and bears from the ship’s observation decks, which is also equipped with a hydrophone and a bow-mounted underwater camera. Daily land trips featuring kayaking, polar snorkeling, paddle boarding and guided hikes.

Passengers will then transfer to the Coast Starlight railway, where they will board the luxury Silver Solarium, a 1940s sleeper carriage. Traveling from Seattle to Los Angeles in two days, passengers will be able to enjoy the natural scenery of the West Coast. The trip ends in Lost Angeles, where guests will stay in a luxury hotel for three nights, visit Beverly Hills and Hollywood and explore the City of Angels.

The 18-day excursion will depart on May 19 and May 26, 2016. Space is limited to eight passengers per sailing with rates beginning at $9,995 per person.
