Avalon Waterways Unveils Two More Suite Ships in 2014

Avalon Waterways is gearing up to unveil two more Suite Ships. In March, the river- and small ship-cruise company will christen the Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression

Joining Avalon as the Poetry II’s godmother is Katherine J. Grainger, Olympic Gold medal-winning rower (2012) and author of Dreams Can Come True (her autobiography). And, serving as the godmother for the Avalon Impression, is J. Mara DelliPriscoli, president of Travel Learning Connections, Inc. and founder of the Educational Travel Conference (ETC).

Part of a four-day inaugural cruise from Cologne to Amsterdam, the christening of both the Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression will take place in Dordrecht, Holland on March 22, 2014.

These new ships, along with a third Avalon vessel – the Avalon Illumination – scheduled to be unveiled in June (courtesy of godmother and Australian celebrity Deborah Hutton), will bring the fleet’s Suite Ship total to eight (adding nearly 10 percent more capacity to aid in Avalon’s exponential growth).

Each suite on all eight Suite Ships includes the industry’s only Open-Air Balcony, providing travelers a combination of the largest windows available with a sliding glass door that opens wide at 7-feet, plus a spacious seating area.

The Suite Ships also have a club, main lounge and dining room with sweeping views, hair salon, Sky Deck whirlpool and Open-Air Bistro for outdoor, grilled lunches. In addition, the fitness rooms aboard these ships are more expansive, with additional equipment and room to renew.

In 2014, Avalon’s Suite Ships will offer cruisers eight times the options to see and experience Europe – on the Danube, Rhine and Main Rivers.
