Azamara Scuttles South America, World Cruises

Azamara Cruises is redeploying the Azamara Journey starting in fall 2008, stating that demand from travel agents and customers is higher for Asia and the Caribbean than the South America voyages it had scheduled for the ship. It also announced cancellation of its 2010 world cruise. On November 12, the ship will sail a new 12-night Western Mediterranean itinerary roundtrip from Barcelona, followed by a 15-night transatlantic voyage departing December 3 from Barcelona that concludes in Miami. Azamara will subsequently operate two new 16-night Panama Canal sailings, followed by a schedule of Caribbean cruises through March 2009 before relocating to Europe for the summer. Azamara Journey's canceled 2010 world cruise hadn't yet opened for bookings. Visit www.azamaracruises.com. (DE)
