Carnival Dream Update – Travel Agents Respond

travel agentCarnival Cruise Lines is working to fly guests from the stranded Carnival Dream home from St. Maarten after the ship became stuck in port due to a problem with its emergency generator, and agents are buzzing about what really happened on the cruise and what it means for the line.

While consumer media outlets, including CNN, have hyped reports of overflowing toilets and other problems, agents we spoke with on our Facebook page and on our site tell a different story.

“I have spoken to them…They are FINE,” says Change in Latitude Travel of clients she had on the vessel. “It’s a few people who are not listening to the crew and trying to flush toilets, but everything is working fine, and nothing major. They are having a blast. A minor inconvenience.”

Other agents, however, are worrying about the impact of the incident on the line so soon after the Carnival Triumph fire in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Seems CCL is having their share of issues lately!” says Michelle Duncan. “Come on and get them fixed guys, for everyone’s peace of mind.”

Barbara Chartoff Ovittore says, “What is going on with Carnival??? Are they not taking care or checking their ships?? They also should make it mandatory for PASSPORTS for cruising to help passengers that have to fly back to USA!!! I recommend it to my clients everytime I book!!!”
