Carnival Sensation Cancels Ocho Rios Call Due to Medical Emergency

Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Sensation has had to cancel a planned call in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Monday due to a passenger onboard in need of urgent medical attention, Carnival said in a statement provided to Travel Agent.

Carnival Sensation had to return to Miami Saturday evening while en route to Ocho Rios in order to debark the guest. The guest disembarked early Sunday morning from the ship to a Miami Dade Rescue vessel and was taken to a shoreside medical facility for further treatment.

Due to the time involved in the deviation, Carnival Sensation was forced to cancel the Monday call in Ocho Rios, Carnival said. The ship is due to return to PortMiami on Thursday, May 4, as scheduled.

“Carnival sincerely apologies for the disruption of our guests vacation and is providing them with a 20 percent future cruise credit,” the line said in a written statement.

Carnival Sensation offers a series of four- and five-day cruises from Miami to the Bahamas, as well as the western and eastern Caribbean. The ship’s next scheduled itinerary departs Miami May 4 and spends five days in the western Caribbean calling at Key West, Florida, and Cozumel, Mexico.

The Carnival Cruise Line ship offers a number of amenities for families, including the line’s Camp Ocean, Circle “C” and Club O2 areas for children of different age groups. For adults, the ship offers an adults-only Serenity area, a spa, and the RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar and the Alchemy Bar.
