Carnival Ship Hits NYC Pier

Carnival Victory struck a pier overhang on the west side of Manhattan Thursday morning, shutting down 12th Avenue near 56th Street. No injuries were reported. The incident occurred around 7:30 am as the ship was docking at the pier at the Passenger Ship Terminal after a four-day Canada and New England itinerary. Carnival says little damage was sustained and the ship is expected to make its next sailing, which was set to leave that afternoon.
