The Carnival Sunshine, which just emerged from a $155 million refurbishment, is sailing on its 12-day inaugural voyage from Venice, Italy to Barcelona, Spain.
A Carnival statement said some limited areas of the ship, including the WaterWorks aqua park and SportSquare recreational area, are still undergoing final finishing work. Carnival said that effort has been hampered by inclement weather.
The Serenity pool, waterfall and adjacent whirlpools are open. However, technical issues have precluded the opening of the Lido pool.
Carnival said all dining venues, bars, lounges, entertainment, spa, youth areas, casino and other public areas of the vessel are operating normally.
Carnival's statement said: "As is sometimes the case with both new ships and major refurbishments, some minor issues are being reported with guest staterooms and those are being addressed on an individual basis."
A Carnival spokeswoman, Jennifer de La Cruz,said the vast majority of public spaces are operating normally and it's addressing the other issues.
