Carnival Triumph Will Drydock Spring 2019 for Upgrade

Starting March 1, Carnival Triumph will undergo a two-month refurbishment in Cadiz, Spain, upgrading it to the cruise line’s Sunshine class. The renamed Carnival Sunrise will have updated staterooms and additional food, beverage and entertainment offerings.

The most notable of the ship’s accommodations changes will be the redesign of two Captain’s Suites. These staterooms will have floor-to-ceiling windows and extended balconies. The cruise line will update all the ship’s staterooms, redecorating them with island-inspired colors (lots of bright colors and pastels).

The renovations will introduce new dining options, including Cucina del Capitano, JavaBlue Café, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Express, The Chef’s Table, Cherry on Top, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse and Lido Marketplace. Carnival will also add a RedFrog Pub, Piano Bar 88, Limelight Lounge and the multi-purpose Liquid Lounge.

Carnival Sunrise’s new SportSquare will provide numerous recreational opportunities, such as a suspended ropes course, basketball court, jogging track, ping pong, foosball, pool tables and a nine-hole miniature golf course. Elsewhere passengers can visit the ship’s water park, an adults-only relaxation area, the Cloud 9 Spa, kids and teens centers, an arcade and additional retail stores.

The newly renamed Carnival Sunrise will set sail April 29, 2019, starting off with five- to seven-day cruises out of Norfolk, Virginia. The ship will move north for the summer, beginning cruises out of New York May 23, 2019. In October Carnival Sunrise will head south to Fort Lauderdale.
