Celebrity Infinity Hit by Norovirus on Most Recent Sailing

celebrity infinityDuring its most recent sailing, which ended April 13 in San Diego, 99 guests and one crew member onboard the Celebrity Infinity experienced gastrointestinal illness thought to be norovirus, Celebrity Cruises said in a statement.

"During the sailing, we took a number of steps to prevent the transmission of the illness, including implementing enhanced cleaning procedures and protocols, and using special cleaning products and disinfectants that are proven to kill norovirus to clean throughout the ship," Celebrity said. "Additionally, when Celebrity Infinity arrived in San Diego, we began an extensive and thorough sanitizing onboard the ship and within the cruise terminal, to help prevent any illness from affecting the subsequent sailing."

Celebrity also sent all guests a letter at boarding asking if they had experienced any gastrointestinal symptoms within the last three days. If any guest was uncomfortable during their cruise for health or other reasons, Celebrity staff assisted them in rescheduling their sailing for another time.
