Costa Diadema Updates Culinary and Entertainment Offerings

costa diademaOne year after its launch, Costa Diadema, the new flagship of the Costa Cruises fleet, is updating its culinary and entertainment offerings. The ship will celebrate its one-year anniversary November 7, 2015.

Beginning in December Costa's new regional menus, featuring dishes from 14 Italian regions, including vegetarian and vegan selections and children's menus, will be available not only in the ship's main restaurants but also in the self-service Corona Blu restaurant. This option is aimed at enabling families to dine in a more casual setting while maintaining the quality of dishes created by Costa's dining room chefs, Costa said.

Costa also has partnered with Italian brand Agrimontana for different ice cream flavors onboard. In addition to the ship's Gelateria Amarillo, guests will be able to enjoy ice cream poolside with a new multicolored mobile cart similar to those used on Italian beaches. The Gelateria Amarillo also will offer a traditional Sicilian breakfast with snow-cones and brioches.

Also beginning in December, Costa Diadema's Samsara Restaurant will serve a new menu blending flavors from Asia and South America with a Mediterranean spirit. Costa's Corporate Chef Stefano Fontanesi and Corporate Pastry Chef Riccardo Bellaera have created a special Pacific-fusion menu. For example, guests can enjoy ceviche reinterpreted with the Italian flavor of sweet Tropea onions, or "real Italian" fettuccine with red shrimp, lime and roasted cashews. The reservation-only Samsara Restaurant will be open for dinner.

Costa Diadema's Corona Blu restaurant will begin serving Costa-style gourmet burgers in January 2016, made with 100 percent Italian Fassona beef, fresh vegetables, including porcini mushrooms, and Italian cheeses like taleggio. The gourmet burgers will be served with side dishes and Italian craft beers, with an option for vegetarians, as well.

Costa Diadema's entertainment offerings are also being refreshed. After their shows, musicians and entertainers will move around the ship performing in different areas dedicated to different genres or musical groups. Guests also will find more poolside parties and theme-based festivities.

Guests can experience Costa Diadema's new culinary and entertainment offerings during seven-night cruises in the western Mediterranean, including calls at Savona, Naples and La Spezia, Italy; Marseille, France; and Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. During Costa Diadema's November 7 cruise from Savona, Italy, and on the other cruises later in the month, special festivities will be held to celebrate the first birthday of the flagship of Italian seafaring, featuring games, music, dancing, parties, a traditional birthday cake and celebratory flutes of sparkling Italian wine.
