Costa Cruises' newest China ship, Costa Serena, launched April 24 from the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.
The ship will join Costa Atlantica and Costa Victoria to homeport out of Shanghai year-round. Reportedly, Costa Serena’s launch fits with the Chinese government's plan to boost the shipping industry and tourism in the region.
The Maiden Call Celebration was headed by Buhdy Bok, president of Costa Asia, Costa Cruises Pacific and China, and attended by distinguished guests from the local government, trade partners and media. Gao Yuanyuan, a Chinese actress and Costa Cruises brand ambassador, was onsite to bless the Costa Serena on her vessel debut.
Aboard the new ship, guests can expect to find interiors that are inspired by mythology and ancient Rome and typical Italian dining experiences, along with Chinese cuisine with a savory hotpot option for consumers who prefer to have a taste of home.
