CroisiEurope Christens the MS Lafayette in Strasbourg, France

CroisiEurope christened the MS Lafayette, the newest member of its Rhine Fleet in Strasbourg, France with Mary Rose N. Reade, wife of the U.S. consul general Evan G. Reade, serving as godmother of the ship. Drawing its name from the French general whose support played an integral part in securing American independence, the MS Lafayette showcases a newly conceptualized design with larger, more spacious cabins each equipped with floor to ceiling picture windows.

“Not only is this a beautiful ship, but, as her name implies, she represents a special link between our two cultures. Just as the Marquis de Lafayette, bridged two worlds and helped bring France and the young country of the United States together as strong and lasting friends, this ship, the ‘MS Lafayette’ will bring many voyagers together as they sail friendly seas,” said Mary Rose N. Reade during her inauguration speech.

Highlights of the MS Lafayette will include:

  • Forty-two 161-square-foot cabins that feature floor-to-ceiling picture windows, a wide-screen TV, safe, hair dryer, mini bar, individual air-conditioning and heating controls and more;
  • A dining room, lounge and sun deck decorated in a modern style;
  • A new itinerary along the Rhine sailing from Amsterdam to Basel with exclusive excursions to Mainau Island, Mainz, the Black Forest and the Titisee, Strasbourg and Aix-la-Chapelle or Aachen.

In addition to the MS Lafayette, two hotel barges were also christened, the MS Anne-Marie and the MS Madeleine.
