Cruise Line Adjustments as Hurricane Igor Hovers

Royal Caribbean International says the Port of Bermuda will close on Friday, September 17 and not reopen until Tuesday, September 21, due to the projected path of Hurricane Igor.

Thus, Royal Caribbean is altering the course of Enchantment of the Seas'  planned sailing from Baltimore on Saturday, September 18. The ship will forego Bermuda and instead sail to Nassau, the Bahamas, overnighting there on September 20 and remaining in that port until noon on Tuesday, September 21.

Although the itinerary modifications are clearly caused by weather and a situation beyond the line's control, the line said it will provide— "as a gesture of goodwill and to thank guests for their understanding"— each stateroom with an onboard credit.

If guests opt to not sail on the revised itinerary, they also may cancel and receive a letter of credit for the amount of the cruise paid to Royal Caribbean. That letter of credit may be applied to a future Royal Caribbean cruise.

Meanwhile, due to severe weather conditions brought on by Hurricane Igor churning in the Atlantic Ocean, MSC Poesia will not call at Hamilton, Bermuda on Saturday, September 18 as originally scheduled. Instead, the ship will sail to Boston arriving at 9 a.m. on September 18 and departing from Boston at 1 a.m. on Monday, September 20.

MSC Cruises says that the ship will arrive in New York City as scheduled on Tuesday, September 21.

All Norwegian Cruise Line ships will depart their respective home ports this weekend as scheduled, the line said. However, NCL says that because Hurricane Igor is expected to pass over Bermuda this weekend, it's possible the itinerary of Norwegian Spirit's September 17 cruise could be impacted.

NCL says the ship will still depart Boston as scheduled on Friday, September 17. "Guests will be notified upon embarkation if there are any necessary itinerary changes," NCL says.
