Crystal Adds New "Late Risers" Crystal Adventures

This fall, Crystal Cruises will debut new Crystal Adventures designed for guests who like to get up late in the morning. The excursions are the same, they just start several hours later in the morning.

Normally, excursions typically depart the ship within 30 to 60 minutes of docking or tendering – as early as 8 a.m. The new “Late-Risers Adventures” will begin closer to 11 a.m. or noon, depending on the itinerary.

Guests will have the late-riser touring option starting with Crystal Serenity's September 19 Boston-to-Quebec sailing and Crystal Symphony's September 27 Hamburg-to-Lisbon sailing.

“There are so many distinctly different types of travelers, each with their own idea of the perfect vacation. For many, this involves plenty of rest and relaxation,” says Edie Rodriguez, president, Crystal Cruises. “The ‘Late-Risers Adventures’ allow guests who prefer more sleep in the morning, are perhaps still adjusting to a time change, or simply like to enjoy a long, leisurely breakfast, to keep their preferred schedule without missing out" on Crystal Adventures.

Examples of a few of the adventures with later start times include:

A Boston highlights tour that includes the Navy Yard, home to “Old Ironsides,” the world’s oldest commissioned naval ship afloat (shown in photo at right); Boston Common, America’s oldest public park; the Freedom Trail and the pre-Revolutionary Old State House.

A cultural tour of Oporto, Portugal including the Cathedral of Oporto – once a Gothic church, now an important Baroque structure. Visitors will also see the 19th-century Stock Exchange Palace, blending Arab and European influences, and visit a port wine cellar for tasting among the oak casts and barrels.

A look at Amsterdam’s most notable sites on a canal tour; guests will view the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, gabled houses, merchants’ mansions and historic carillon-crowned churches.

These and other tours for late risers will be offered on select Crystal itineraries worldwide.

The new late-riser start times also will complement the line's Late Risers Breakfast, available from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on both the line's ships.  For more information, visit
