Crystal Cruises Nearly Doubles Fuel Surcharge

Crystal Cruises is hiking its fuel surcharge to $12 per person per day for all new bookings made on or after June 23. The new fuel surcharge is almost double the $7 per person per day that Crystal Cruises currently charges.

Once again, escalating oil prices were at the heart of the increase. "We regret any increased charges to our guests, but the fuel costs are escalating far beyond expectations," said Gregg Michel, president of Crystal Cruises. "Unfortunately, even this amount will not fully cover the increased costs we are absorbing."

Current reports set the price of oil at about $140 per barrel.
