Freedom of the Seas Adds Boxing Ring

Freedom of the Seas, the world's largest ship launching in April, will have several razzle-dazzle features, among them the largest fitness center at sea and the first-ever boxing ring at sea. With Freedom's "Fight Klub," guests can set up one-on-one boxing training sessions with an experienced instructor inside a full-size 20' by 20' boxing ring. Multiple speed bags, jump ropes, heavy bags and padded punching mitts will be available. Additionally, groups of three people will partake in sparring sessions with freestanding body master bags, all supervised by an on-site boxing coach. Die-hard Rocky wannabes can train in three one-hour sessions with a boxing coach—the workout includes a warm up, bag work, mirror boxing, footwork and pad work. The new fitness center will feature the first-ever dedicated "Pilates reformer" group exercise program. Another industry first is the installation of a power-plate device that use advanced reflex technology. For the first time on a Royal Caribbean ship, all cardio equipment will have personal LCD screens to keep guests entertained.
