Holland America Line held a steel cutting ceremony for its third Pinnacle Class ship at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard this week. When it launches in May 2021, the vessel will mark the 17th Fincantieri has constructed for the cruise line.
The craft will accommodate 2,662 guests, roughly the same number as its sister ships Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam. Like its fellow Pinnacle Class entries, the upcoming ship will feature a host of music venues that includes the World Stage, Lincoln Center Stage, B.B. King’s Blues Club, Billboard Onboard and the Rolling Stone Rock Room. Also like Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, Holland America Line has placed hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany and designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten in charge of designing its public spaces.
Holland America Line kicked off the its Pinnacle Class line nearly three years ago, with the Koningsdam sailing its first cruises in the spring of 2016. The company took delivery of the class’s next ship, the Nieuw Statendam, this past November. The ship starting its first sailing December 5, 2018 and received an official christening from Oprah Winfrey this past February.
Currently, Holland America Line’s fleet consists of 15 ships. It sails over 500 cruises, visiting over 400 ports in nearly 100 countries, territories or dependencies. The company sails to destinations on every continent, even Antarctica.
