Hugh Downs and Bill Bryson Join Silversea's World Cruise 2012

Bestselling author Bill Bryson and Emmy Award-winning former 20/20 anchor Hugh Downs have joined the cast of notable lecturers for Silversea’s World Cruise 2012.

The Silver Whisper will depart Fort Lauderdale on January 6 for its first-ever world cruise, a 115-day journey that spans 45 ports in 27 countries in the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Guests will enjoy 13 overnight visits and exclusive visit to usually inaccessible sights. Onboard the ship, the cruise will host a series of enriching presentations.

The cast of speakers includes:

Hugh Downs, co-anchor of ABC’s 20/20, will host Voyage 4203. From January 23 through February 5, the cruise will sail from Rio de Janero to Cape Town.

Bill Bryson, author of A Short History of Nearly Everything and winner of the Aventis Prize, will host Voyage 4206 from March 3 through 14, Singapore to Shanghai.

Nigel West, military historian and author of At Her Majesty’s Secret Service, will host Voyage 4205 from February 16 through March 3, Mauritius to Singapore.

Daniel Silke, a former Member of Parliament in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in Cape Town, will host Voyage 4203 from January 23 through February 5, Rio de Janeiro to Cape Town.

Robin Hanbury-Tenison, O.B.E., founder and president of Survival International, will host Voyage 4202 from January 7 through 23, Fort Lauderdale to Rio de Janeiro.

James Bradley, bestselling author of Flags of Our Fathers, will host Voyage 4207 from March 14 through 26, Shanghai to Bangkok.

Philip Hurst, former deputy director of The Australian Institute of International Affairs, will host Voyage 4208 from March 26 through April 13, Bangkok to Dubai.

Tim Hughes, Ph.D, former lecturer in political studies at the University of Cape Town, will host Voyage 4204 from February 5 through 16, Cape Town to Mauritius.

Dr. Mark H. Elovitz, world affairs commentator and lecturer, will host Voyages 4206 and 4207 from March 3 through 26, Singapore to Bangkok.

Dr. Herb Keyser, author, physician and music expert, will host Voyage 4209 from April 13 to May 1, Dubai to Monte Carlo.
