Hurricane Jimena Forces Cruise Ship Shuffle

Hurricane Jimena is making a mess of cruise schedules. The Category Four hurricane bore down Tuesday on the Mexican peninsula of Baja California, with Cabo San Lucas in its direct course.

So far, the following cruise ships have made these itinerary changes:

Carnival has altered Carnival Splendor’s Mexican Riviera itinerary. The ship called in Catalina Island on Monday and will call in Ensenada Tuesday, followed by two sea days Wednesday and Thursday, Cabo San Lucas on Friday, and Ensenada again on Saturday.

Carnival Elation, which departed San Diego on Saturday, was at sea Monday and will visit Catalina on Tuesday and Ensenada on Wednesday. This new itinerary replaces the existing schedule of consecutive port calls in Cabo San Lucas on Monday and Tuesday.

Carnival Paradise rearranged its port of calls. The ship departed Long Beach on Monday, will spend Tuesday at sea and then call in Catalina on Wednesday and Ensenada on Thursday.

Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas reversed the order of its ports. The ship, which departed Los Angeles on Sunday, is spending two days at sea before visiting Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday, Mazatlan on Thursday and Cabo San Lucas on Friday. Saturday will be a sea day with a return to Los Angeles on Sunday.
