Hurtigruten Continues Single Supplement Waiver

Hurtigruten continues to offer a policy of sailings without penalty. Guests traveling alone and booking a double-occupancy cabin will pay the same per person rate as if they were traveling as a couple on select departures of the six to 12-day itineraries along Norway’s fjord-filled west coast - including the holiday sailings. The route runs between the UNESCO-listed harbor city of Bergen and the Norway/Russia border town of Kirkenes, with 34 ports of call in both directions.

This offer, translating into a savings of up to $1,973, runs through April 28, 2014. Regular (per person, double) fares for departures through Dec. 31 range from $1,286 to $2,631 and include the voyage in the cabin grade of your choice; all meals on board; and cruise taxes and port charges. For trips in 2014, prices range from $1,311 to $2,894. Rates are valid for new bookings for North American residents only and are subject to change without notice.

The Hunt for the Northern Lights is a signature element of Hurtigruten’s winter voyages, when the display of Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, is a natural phenomenon that fills the night sky with yellow, green or red-violet belts of color, arising with little advance notice. As a goal that appears on many a travelers’ bucket list, Hurtigruten guests have a greater possibility of seeing the Northern Lights during the company’s northbound, southbound and round-trip Classic Winter Voyages as the ships sail above the Arctic Circle.

The fleet of 11 ships, which visit 34 ports of call during the seven-day northbound and six-day southbound sailings, and twice each during the 12-day roundtrip.

Guests looking to save even more can book the four-excursion package named “Hunting the Light Package,” consisting of The North Cape, the Lofotr Viking Feast, a Polar History Walk in Tromsø and a Husky Sledge Adventure, resulting in an onboard credit of $105 to $114.
