Hurtigruten Offers "September-to-Remember" Promotion For Agents

Hurtigruten, the Norweigan passenger and freight line, is launching a "September to Remember" promotion featuring contests, new promotions, agent incentives, webinars and discounts.

Two agency contests will reward winners with six-and seven-day Norway cruises for two, to be taken between October 2009 and March 2010 (excluding December 15-30), or October 1 - December 14, 2010.

The first contest asks agents to create the best and most original Hurtigruten-exclusive e-mail blast to agent databases, promoting any of the September 1 - October 15 offerings. The second contest asks agents to compete by creating the most spectacular agency window display, conveying the essence of Hurtigruten's once-in-a-lifetime voyages.

New promotions and discounts being offered as part of the September to Remember promotion include the Two-For-One promotion adding a free upgrade to the best available ocean view cabin when booking any "L" cabin and above (no suites). Rates range from $770 to $1,535 per person, double after discount versus twice that much normally. The offer is valid on most six-, seven- and 12-day Coastal sailings between October 1 and December 31, including Christmas and New Year's.

In addition, Hurtigruten's all-inclusive Norway package is now being offered at a new lower rate that includes a "Pay One Price - Receive Best Available Cabin at Time of Booking" structure - based on cabin categories "U" through "L", which includes most outside cabins (no suites). Guests pay $2,499 to $2,999 per person, double, depending on itinerary length and month of travel - not cabin category. The select 6-, 7- and 12-day Coastal itineraries become 9-and 14-day vacations with the addition of one night in Oslo and Bergen or one in either city. This offer is on most sailings between October 1 and Dec. 31, including Christmas and New Year's. Most air fare add-ons from North American gateways are priced from $100 to $360.

Antarctica cruise suites are on sale for 25 percent off with free air from New York and Miami. Discounted prices for the 13- and 22-day itineraries range from now $6,577 to $11,534 per person, double; a savings of $3,041 to $4,694 per person.

Hurtigruten is offering free webinars for both travel agents and their clients. The Sept. 15 agent session introduces agents to the diverse and remote destinations offered - Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic's Spitsbergen and Norway. The session discusses selling strategies, ways to increase commissions and best practices. As a special thank you, agents booking a new group and promoting a specific departure date increase their commission from 10 percent to 12 percent. Two other webinar sessions - Sept. 10 and 23, are for the agent's client, showing off cruise destinations.
