Lindblad Expeditions Wins 2015 Legacy in Travel Philanthropy Award

Lindblad Expeditions was honored with the 2015 Legacy in Travel Philanthropy Award at the Tourism Cares Travel Philanthropy Awards reception in New York City. 

The awards celebrate and share the accomplishments of travel companies and individuals who are successful in community care and stewardship. 

Sven-Olof Lindblad accepted the award, and remarked on the state of ocean sustainability in his acceptance speech.

“It is as if humanity has come to its senses. About 10 percent of the world’s land is protected, in one form or another,” he said. “Last year less than 1 percent of the ocean was protected—this year 1.5 percent. And there are a lot of really very good, smart, credible people working to get us to around 10% by 2020, and I’m absolutely convinced now they will succeed.”
