Lisa Bauer Joins International Cruise & Excursions

lisa bauerInternational Cruise & Excursions (ICE) has announced the appointment of cruise industry veteran Lisa Bauer, most recently of Royal Caribbean International, as COO and EVP operations. As COO, Bauer will lead the company’s global operations focusing on and driving companywide operational excellence throughout its sales, marketing and client services and delivering best-in-class service to ICE’s business partners and clients worldwide.

Bauer will assume her new role beginning January 20, 2014, and will be based out of ICE’s corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bauer left Royal Caribbean back in September at the same time as the line eliminated 100 lower level positions "in an effort to reduce corporate bloat," according to a post on the Royal Caribbean blog. Bauer's former employees now report directly to Royal Caribbean CEO Adam Goldstein as Goldstein takes a more hands-on role in managing the international aspect of the business.

“ICE has experienced tremendous growth over the past 10 years,” said John Rowley, ICE president and chief executive officer. “We are excited to have attracted such a dynamic and proven travel industry executive as Lisa Bauer to help drive the continued growth and success of the company. As a respected veteran, visionary leader and longtime business leader, Lisa will be a tremendous addition to the ICE executive team.”

Bauer has more than 20 years of experience in the travel industry. Most recently, she served as executive vice president of global sales and marketing at Royal Caribbean International, a position to which she was promoted in September of 2012.

During her 11 year tenure at Royal Caribbean International, Bauer also served as senior vice president-hotel operations, overseeing onboard hotel services, food and beverage, onboard revenue and entertainment, as well as senior vice president of sales.

Prior to joining Royal Caribbean, Bauer held senior positions in sales, marketing and operations with Midwest Express Airlines, Legend Airlines and Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort.

The move caps a busy few weeks in cruise industry moves. Most recently, Ellen Bettridge left Silversea, where she had served as president of the Americas, to join Unique Vacations, Inc. as president.

“I am thrilled to be joining the ICE team,” Bauer said. “I’ve worked with John and Marcia and their team for years and have tremendous respect for the entrepreneurial and global business they have built.
