"The Love Boat" Cast Will Ride on Princess Cruises' Rose Parade Float

Love Boat Cast

Princess Cruises is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015 and plans to celebrate with their first float in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

The float pays tribute to the characters of the show “The Love Boat.” The cruise line was an important part of the show, and the show helped Princess Cruises gain recognition. To celebrate the anniversary, the six members of original cast of “The Love Boat” will reunite and ride on the float. The winner of the Princess Cruises "inspiring story" contest will also be riding on the float this January. They all will accompany the float as it travels the five-and-a-half mile parade route in Pasadena, CA.

The float, named “50 Years of Inspiring Travel", portrays the cruise line sailing through some iconic destinations, including the Sydney Opera House, the leaning tower of Pisa, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Alaskan wilderness and the tropical beauty of Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean.

This float is 60 feet long and uses more than 24,000 flowers. Roses, orchids, tulips, natural material and additional flowers helped create the float.

Princess Cruises sails to 350 destinations throughout the world, and it will be celebrating its anniversary throughout 2015 with giveaways.
