NCL Changes Muster Drill: No Jacket Required

On a conference call with media and agents today, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced it is now implementing a new process for the required onboard lifeboat drill. The new process is going to be fleetwide except on Pride of America.

Andy Stuart, the line's executive vice president of sales and passenger services, says it's no longer necessary for guests to go back to their stateroom, retrieve their life jacket, and then trip over the strings en route to the muster station. Now, guests will go from wherever they are onboard directly to the muster station where crew will demonstrate life jacket usage.

"This maintains our complete focus on safety but makes the procedure significantly more convenient for our guests," said Stuart.
