Norwegian Gem to Debut in New York

Norwegian Gem will take over the Norwegian Dawn's operation in New York when the Gem launches in October 2007; the Dawn, in turn will redeploy to Miami for the winter. Many New Yorkers have been on the Norwegian Dawn repeatedly so the line is trying to give agents who sell the cruises some variety to emphasize when talking to clients. Norwegian Gem is a sister ship of Norwegian Pearl, which will be delivered in November of this year, on a bit earlier schedule than originally anticipated by NCL. In addition, NCL announced that Norwegian Pearl would offer Caribbean sailings from Miami starting this coming winter, and then reposition to Seattle for the summer 2007 Alaska season. In 2007, Norwegian Star will continue to operate Alaska cruises from Seattle, while Norwegian Sun will operate Alaska cruises from Vancouver. Going back to the Baltic region in 2007 is Norwegian Dream, Norwegian Jewel will again sail Mediterranean cruises, and the line will operate four ships to Bermuda. NCL also said it plans to launch a new brand campaign on television this fall with a focus on Freestyle Cruising, and to also re-engineer its web site.
