Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas to Get $30 Million Renovation

jewel of the seasRoyal Caribbean International has announced a new, $30 million renovation project for Jewel of the Seas. The newly refreshed ship will set sail in April 2016, offering Mediterranean cruises from Rome through October. 

The renovations will add new ocean-facing glass elevators and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the ship, plus new staterooms, restaurants, technology upgrades and new entertainment offerings. Notable additions include a two-bedroom family suite and 24 new outside and balcony accommodations. The ship will also add new dining venues in Giovanni’s Table, Vintages and Izumi. Chops Grille, the spa and retail areas also will be refreshed, and a new poolside movie screen will show films under the stars. Jewel of the Seas will also get VOOM, Royal Caribbean's high-speed Internet at sea service, throughout the ship. 

From Rome the ship will offer seven-, eight- and nine-night itineraries calling at ports in Italy, Greece and Turkey, such as Athens, Mykonos and Santorini in Greece and Ephesus in Turkey.
