Royal Princess Update - Next Cruise Will Sail Friday

royal princessIt's good news for those sailing on the next cruise operated by Royal Princess.

The ship, which was hit by a power outage over the weekend resulting in a shortening of the current cruise, is expected to be back in service for guests to board as normal in Barcelona on Friday, Oct. 27.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon Pacific time, Princess Cruises said:

"Today Royal Princess remains in Naples as passengers continue to disembark the ship and travel home.  We have appreciated our passengers’ patience and understanding as they’ve waited to receive their onward travel details being arranged by our shore team.  Again, we are sincerely sorry for this unexpected disruption to their vacation. After a technical assessment of the repairs required, we are pleased to report that the next cruise, voyage 1329 departing this Friday, is planned to operate as scheduled from Barcelona.  The repairs will be made as the ship sails from Naples to Barcelona.

We look forward to welcoming our passengers onboard Royal Princess on Friday.  The ship will depart at 7 p.m. as scheduled. The next cruise is a 12-day Mediterranean sailing ending in Venice."

The ship had arrived in Naples at 10:45 p.m. on September 23. The Princess shore team has been arranging flights and securing hotel rooms for those requiring an overnight stay prior to their onward flights.

It appears that if the repairs are completed as expected during the ship's transit to Barcelona that subsequent cruises will operate on schedule. Obviously that could change, but the news today was positive for many guests booked on the next few cruises.
