Royal Caribbean has announced that Spectrum of the Seas is another step closer to completion. The ship’s two large megablocks were merged and fastened together at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany – the latest milestone in the ship's building process. Spectrum is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
The 4,246-passenger Spectrum of the Seas will be the next evolution of the cruise line’s Quantum class of ships, placing the ship in a new class of its own called the Quantum Ultra. The new ship will specifically be designed for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region and will include new guest experiences and amenities.
As the first Quantum Ultra-Class ship, Spectrum of the Seas will debut a new private enclave for Golden and Silver Suite guests, including keycard access, a private elevator, dedicated restaurant and lounge, exclusive amenities and access to The Balcony for sunbathing and The Boutique, a shopping area where guests can book private shopping experiences.
Other ship highlights include a new Star Moment karaoke venue, a new enhanced SeaPlex with augmented reality walls and floors; and a new two-level, 2,809-square-foot Ultimate Family Suite. Accommodating up to 11 guests, the three-bedroom suite will have a master bedroom with a bathroom extending over the ship’s side. Plus, a new specialty restaurant, Sichuan Red, will open in the Royal Esplanade.
Spectrum of the Seas will start sailing in June of 2019 from Shanghai.
