TUI Names First Ship in Fleet

The envelope please. Mein Schiff wins as the name for TUI Cruises' first ship. Translating into "My Ship," the name was chosen from over 30,000 ideas. The competition was carried out in partnership with Bunte, a German celebrity magazine. The ship will be christened on May 15.

"We were overwhelmed by the tremendous response to our search for a name and are most grateful for the sea of creative names," said Richard J Vogel, Chief Executive Officer of TUI Cruises. "This name is in the German language, unique in the cruise industry and expresses our core ideas of individuality and room to move."

The ship's exterior design brings classic color components together with innovative design ideas.

TUI Cruises is a joint venture of TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Based in Hamburg, TUI will be offering from May 2009 premium cruises in the German-speaking market and focusing on couples and families. Mein Schiff is the first ship of the fleet. In its first season, TUI Cruises is offering Nordic and Baltic cruises from May to September. From September to the beginning of November the ship will head for the western Mediterranean. Caribbean cruises are on the agenda from November 2009 through to March 2010.
