The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed S.Res. 486, commemorating “Cruise Travel Professional Month” in October 2016, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) reports.

The resolution, which also acknowledges “the creativity and professionalism of the men and women of the cruise travel professional community,” was introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), with co-sponsoring Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Dan Sullivan (R-AK).

CLIA is celebrating Plan a Cruise Month in October 2016, when travel agents, cruise lines and industry partners will showcase cruise vacations.

Last year, a resolution was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives designating October 2015 as “Cruise Travel Professional Month” during CLIA’s Plan a Cruise Month. The Plan a Cruise Month activities last year resulted in 250 broadcast segments and more than 83 million social media impressions, CLIA said.
