UPDATE: Le Ponant Crew Members Freed, Captors Arrested

The real-life drama surrounding the hijacking of a luxury cruise ship, Le Ponant, has now safely ended as the 30 crew members were released Friday a week after being taken captive by pirates, who were subsequently arrested by French commandos.

French news outlets say no state funds were paid to obtain the crews release, but did not discount that the ship’s owner, CMA CGM shipping groups, could have paid a ransom fee.
