In August it was announced that Emerald Waterways would become Europe’s newest deluxe river cruise company, introducing travelers to the next generation of river cruising. The company is now sharing video footage of construction on its two new “Star-Ships”  - the Emerald Sky and Emerald Star. The 60-second clip shows the Emerald Sky at various stages of development, including its water launch a few weeks ago. The company is offering up to $500 per person savings in airfare costs when Emerald Waterways books the flight and the cruise is booked by November 30, 2013.

The next step in the construction phase is fitting the ships’ deluxe interiors, including a swimming pool that converts into a cinema; the luxury Owner’s One Bedroom Suites; and The Terrace. In the video, images of these amenities are artists’ renderings – but the company is on track to debut its ships on the Rhine, Maine, Danube and Moselle rivers in April 2014.

Each new “Star-Ship” will carry 182 guests in 72 suites and 20 staterooms, including two cabins built for solo occupancy. They will include a new type of cabin design that replaces themill French balcony common to most ships with an indoor balcony complete with decked area and an open-air system.
