This Week in Cruise: Three New Executive Appointments in the Cruise Industry

This week in cruise news saw another flurry of hirings and promotions around the cruise industry.

Scenic Cruises promoted Richard Hickey to serve as director of national accounts. 

Adding to his current position as business sales director for the US Southeast Region, Hickey will now work with the large accounts and consortiums that promote and sell Scenic and its river cruises on a national scale as well as seek out new sales channels. He will be based out of Miami and can be reached by email at [email protected].

At MSC Cruises, Massimiliano Mio joined the company's executive leadership at its global headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland, as the new chief legal officer. 

Mio has worked in international shipping law for 20 years, covering claims and disputes handling, insurance and liability issues, corporate legal affairs and various other maritime matters. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Gianni Onorato.

Finally, Crystal Cruises announced the appointment of Lyall Duncan as the line's general counsel. 

Duncan possesses more than 15 years of experience in maritime, corporate, commercial, and travel law in the global market. As general counsel, Duncan will ensure Crystal operates in compliance with all laws that apply to sea and land operations. He will report directly to Crystal’s President and Chief Executive Officer Edie Rodriguez

Duncan most recently served as associate general counsel for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., where he supported the sales organizations as well several other core business groups for the mass market public corporation, including its premium brands.
