IsramWorld Reports 'Avalanche' of Cuba Bookings

cubaIn the three weeks since IsramWorld's Latour subsidiary reported the launch of tours to Cuba, there has been an avalanche of interest, calls and bookings, according to Ady Gelber, president and CEO of the New York-based tour operator.

The company's Cuba programs - in the planning for some 18 years - received the go-ahead earlier this summer by the U.S. Treasury Department, Isram says.

"Two fam trips have sold out," says Gelber, "and we are receiving literally dozens of bookings; by late last week, we have several sold-out departures."

Commencing in the late fall of 2013 and continuing through summer 2014, IsramWorld and its subsidiaries are offering three separate Cuba programs: "Hello, Cuba!" geared to general audiences; "Shalom, Cuba!" geared to audiences interested in the Caribbean country's Jewish heritage; and "Cuban Pride!" geared to LGBT travelers.

"We were confident Cuba would prove popular," Gelber observed, "but we've been happily surprised by the vast extent of interest." Gelber added that the company has been able to switch reservations staff from other departments to handle the surge of Cuba business.
